If you ever regret scrolling too much on your socials. This post might be for you.
I deactivated Instagram for a week. This may not sound huge to some, but might sound scary to most.
Deactivating Instagram for a week was probably the best thing I did in a while. I say this because it was getting really toxic and I was using it as an escape mechanism from my schedule. My âscrollingâ usually drove me to regret at the end of it.
I am not going to talk about the benefits of deactivating. But, will share as to what it felt when I did.
Day 1:
Day 1 was the most difficult. In fact, deactivating was probably the toughest part. Only when you deactivate and delete âthatâ energy draining app from your phone do you actually realize the number of times you subconsciously open the app.
Day 2:
Youâve lived an entire day without the app. Your subconscious actions take you to the app, but, then you realise itâs not there :) so you move on and look for other things to spend your time on.
Gradually, you become self-conscious about the fact that you are no longer using the app. You will spend your time on things that actually matter and will be much more aware about where your quality time is being spent.
Now that I have Re-activated Instagram after a week. It just doesnât feel as exciting as it seemed earlier.
Few Observations:
I am much more aware and self-conscious of the amount of time I spend on Instagram.
Nobody cares as much as you think they do. The most concerned will contact you no matter what. (if you think deactivating will lead you to losing contact with your âfriendsâ)
You will actually go out and meet people in Real-Life, rather than âtextingâ.
Youâll be so much at peace with yourself. I promise.
NOTE: In the above context I donât intend to target anyone who uses social apps like these. But, if you ever feel drained after using such apps I highly recommend you deactivate âthatâ social app for sometime, atleast once. You wonât regret.
bye
